Optimizing content management and improving metadata on unofficial YouTube
We have implemented improvements to the Country Sisters unofficial YouTube channel with the aim of systematically managing content and improving the quality of information provided to viewers.
In this article, we will explain in detail the specific details and effects of the improvements.
Structuring video metadata
Conventionally, the release date of a video was the upload date, but this had the problem of not reflecting the accurate chronological information of the content. In particular, in the case of a band that has been active for a long period of time, such as Country Sisters, there are cases where the arrangement and composition of the same song differ depending on the time of performance.
Therefore, we have changed our policy to include the date or year of the live performance in the metadata of each video. If the date of the live performance cannot be determined, the year the video was registered will be added as alternative information. This makes it easier to understand when the video was recorded, and allows viewers to deepen their viewing experience by understanding the context of the content.
Improved usability by separating title and account name
Previously, video titles were in the format of "video name + account name", but as the number of videos increased, the titles became redundant and searchability decreased. To solve this problem, we changed the title to be limited to the video name, and display the account name as a subtitle. This made the titles of each video simpler and improved searchability. It also improved visibility when displaying multiple videos from the same account.
Guidelines for adding future content
We will adhere to the following guidelines when adding future Country Sisters videos.
- If the date of the live performance is known, be sure to include that date in the metadata.
- If the date of the live performance is unknown, research the year of the performance if possible, and if unable to identify it, include the year the video was registered. (For 2000, "01 January 2000")
- The video title will be the song title, with the account name displayed as a subtitle.
Through these improvements, we hope that the Country Sisters Unofficial YouTube channel will become more than just a collection of videos, but will become even more valuable as a systematic archive that allows viewers to trace the evolution of their music.
I ♥ Country Sisters.
